The Weirdest Surfboards on the Waves

Peugeot GTi Concept

That’s right, here we have a surfboard designed by none other than the French car manufacturer, Peugeot. In their ongoing quest for sleek designs and powerful acceleration they briefly turned their eye to the surfing scene and created the concept for their board, the GTi. This board is certainly unique and looks slick, that being said it has had many questionings whether or not it would actually float let alone allow you to catch the waves. Who knows maybe one day they will all be surprised? Or not.

The LED Board

OK, maybe this isn’t that weird but it’s sure cool enough to make it to this list. It’s a board laced with ultra-bright LED lights so not only can you see your board in the dark, but you can also put on one of the coolest water light shows around too. Naturally if you’re going to think about getting one of these for yourself you should be aware that despite being awesome, surfing at night can be dangerous so be careful out there and make sure someone is always on hand to help out just in case.

The Coffin Lid

Over the years many different things have been used in replacement of what we now understand to be the classic surfboard design. For those of you out there that love the idea of surfing out on the big blue but hate how much it grates on their gothic disposition, well you need not concern yourselves anymore. Here we have the coffin lid surfboard, a genuine coffin lid with a fin attached to you can cruise the waves at your leisure, just as you imagine a fun-loving vampire might. What’s even cooler (and even more fitting) is that these things were used by the Victorians too.

The Collapsible Board

Here we have a board perfect for those that like to travel and surf. It’s the Ikea flatpack equivalent of your everyday board and it’s super handy. If you have trouble getting your board through baggage, worry no more thanks to this Nicholas Notara designed carbon fibre collection that once assembled has the look and style of the flashiest of boards going. It’s convenient and it’s classy, let’s just hope that it floats once you’ve put it together, I guess.

The R2D2

If you’re anything like me then you probably take any chance that you get to show people your love of Star Wars. Well now you can do that whilst you surf the waves and what better way to get about than with the help of your own R2D2. Sure, it doesn’t have the personality and computer splicing capabilities that the real deal does but it looks just like him and that is all that really matters when your trying to show your love for the little guy, even when your out on the waves. Now all you need is to get yourself a C3P0 wetsuit and you’ll have the complete set.
